Parents and Carers

The Virtual School is exactly that - virtual!

The Virtual School isn't a place or a building. It's a group of professionals (including a headteacher, teachers and specialists in education welfare) who work with a child or young person in care, as an additional resource to support them and help them get the best outcomes from their school and college years.

As a Virtual School we are here for parents, carers, children, and staff.  There is a lot of information on this website to guide you. If you would like to request some specific support, please contact   virtualschool@sthelens.gov.uk and we will do our best to help.

If you wish to be informed about training courses for parents and carers and access our newsletters please click on this link to access the Microsoft Form. We will add you to an email group and will regularly send out information about training opportunities and developments.

PEPs

A core element of the educational support offered to all cared for children is the PEP or Personal Education Plan.
This is a document which is created during termly PEP meetings and which captures the education views of cared for children, their school, carers and social workers. It also records specific education targets aimed to help cared for children reach their goals and should also demonstrate how Pupil Premium Plus funding is going to be used to support this.
The child's targets should be SMART: specific, measurable, achievable, realistic and timed. More detailed information can be found in the PEP section of this website.
