PLAC and the Early Years

Together for Adoption

All 3 and 4 year old children are entitled to 15 hours per week of funded early education for 38 weeks of the year.

In addition working parents of 3 and 4 year olds may also be eligible for a further 15 hours of childcare, 30 hours funded childcare in total.

Funded childcare for 2 year olds

Children looked after, children who have left care under a special guardianship order, child arrangements order, or adoption order are eligible for funded childcare for 2 year olds.

Other parents and carers may be eligible if they are getting certain benefits.

Early years and PLAC

3 and 4 year old previously looked-after children in state funded early education will attract
EYPP funding . These children must receive free early education in order to attract EYPP
funding. They do not have to take up the full 570 hours of early education they are entitled to
in order to get EYPP.

£302.10 is allocated for Early Years (children aged 3 to 4).

The setting needs to record the number of adopted, SGO or CAO children for whom they will
receive pupil premium funding on the January census. In order to do this, parents will need to
show evidence of the court order that proves that the child was formally in local authority
care in either England or Wales.

2 year old previously looked-after children are also eligible for funded early learning
