Applying for a school place

For children living in St Helens please refer to the council admissions page for in-year transfers or starting school/ high school places.

Key dates for school applications 24/25: 

When to apply:

Primary school: Apply a year before your child can start school, which is usually on their fourth birthday. Applications open in September and close on January 15. Primary school national offer day is the 16th April 2025.

Secondary school: Applications open on September 1 and close on October 31. Secondary school national offer day is the 3rd March 2025. 

Any school moves for CWLA should be discussed with the Virtual School prior to completing applications.
