
TAZ (Teen Advice Zone) offers advice and support related to sexual health.
If you are aged 13 to 19 you can receive free:
- Contraception (contraceptive pill, implant, injection, patch, coil and condoms) and advice about which type is best for you.
- Emergency contraception (the 'morning after pill') to prevent unwanted pregnancy (available for up to five days after unprotected sex). If TAZ is closed, you can get free emergency contraception from these chemists.
- Pregnancy testing and guidance on your options and next steps if you think you may be pregnant.
- Testing for some sexually transmitted infections, including chlamydia, gonorrhoea, HIV and syphilis.
- Information, advice and guidance about ANYTHING to do with sexual health, including questions about relationships, puberty, periods, body changes and growing up. There's no such thing as a silly question!

Support with drugs, alcohol and smoking:
St Helens Integrated Recovery Service
It is a free and confidential drug and alcohol service for adults in St Helens.
The service helps you to make and sustain the changes you need to make to reduce and, ultimately, stop your drug and/or alcohol use.
They aim to empower you to identify and realise your goals throughout your recovery journey, in order to live a healthier, safer life.
You will be greeted by a welcoming team of professionals who offer a range of opportunities from workshops, brief interventions, structured groups and one-to-one sessions. This is complemented by clinical services such as alcohol detoxification, harm reduction advice, blood borne virus testing (including HIV and Hep C), naloxone training and referral to other services.

The service provides:
- A fully integrated substance misuse service including clinical services, recovery support, criminal justice and GP shared care.
- A service that is tailored to your goals to improve your quality of life.
- Structured psychosocial interventions including Foundations for Recovery for each stage of your journey.
- Prescribing services including drug and/or alcohol detox, completed in a variety of settings according to your needs.
- Whole family service including positive parenting programmes.
- Health screening including vaccination for BBV and coordination of treatment with your GP for any long term conditions.
- Training and Education for communities, employers and families, preventing ill health and promoting the five ways to well-being.
- Peer-led recovery activities, facilitating access to mutual aid, peer mentoring training and building 'recovery communities'.

St Helens Young People's Drug and Alcohol Team
St Helens Young People's Drug and Alcohol Team (YPDAAT) provide young people and their families in St Helens with a range of interventions to help them to make informed choices around drug and alcohol use in order to achieve their full potential.
Despite what you might think, most young people chose not to use drugs or alcohol. Of those who do, most will grow out of this without any issues.
What do YPDATT do?
· Provide a confidential service, working with young people aged up to 19.
· Help you to make healthy choices, to prevent you getting into risky situations due to drug and alcohol use.
· Offer help and support in cutting down, quitting or being safe and provide one-to-one sessions with your own keyworker.
· All staff are trained in nicotine replacement therapy to help you stop smoking. They also offer STI screening and C-Card services.
· They can also offer complimentary therapy sessions to help relaxation and show you other ways to chill out.

Stop Smoking
The St Helens Smokefree Support Service offers free advice and support, tailored to the individual needs of the smoker, to help you quit smoking. All residents in St Helens who want to quit smoking can access the Smoke Free Service. You can:
- Turn up to one of our local drop-in sessions
- Visit your GP
- Drop in to your local chemist.
