Process of a PEP

pep2

What is the process?

Before the meeting:

The Social Worker will contact the Early Years Practitioner and Carer to agree a convenient time and place for the meeting to be held and consider who else may need to be involved in the meeting.

The EY Practitioner will complete their sections of the PEP including the child's voice and their recent progress and attainment in their nursery or school.

At the meeting:

The person chairing the meeting (usually the Social Worker) will seek the views of those present about what is going well and noting any concerns. The child's views should shared. The discussion may also cover learning opportunities outside the Early Years setting and transition planning where relevant. The group will then consider next steps for the child. Previous targets will be reviewed and new targets will be added to the PEP.

A date must be set to review the plan in the next PEP meeting.

After the Meeting:

The Early Years Practitioner and the Social Worker will make sure their parts of the PEP are completed and will tick the sign off button at the top of the PEP.

The Virtual School will then review the PEP and sign it off once targets have been agreed.

The Social Worker should ensure that carers are given a copy of the PEP.

EYPP will be paid to the nursery setting each term on completion of the PEP.
