The PEP set up

The initial PEP meeting is set by Social Worker within 20 days of child / young person coming into care.

The meeting follows the process of the PEP with sections completed:

  • Details and dates of the last PEP meeting and next
  • Identification of designated teacher, social worker, carer, parent
  • Child's UPN, Social care ID and DOB
  • Swimming achievements or plan in place recorded

About Me

  • Personal information about the child or young person
  • A life story of the child completed with the child.
  • SDQ score and PEP review information

My Education

  • Identified key person/mentor (chosen by the child)
  • Attendance, behaviour, emotion and health information
  • A clear picture of the child's presentation physically and emotionally.

  • Completed attainment data for each year and each stage
  • Reports and monitoring documents

My Views, Wishes and Feelings

  • The voice of the child with meaningful answers encouraged

VS Feedback

  • Feedback from the VS in relation to the PEP document

Once the meeting has taken place, taking into account views of child / young person, parent / carer, social worker and school staff, the PEP should be completed by the Designated teacher and Social Worker and signed off (top of the PEP0 with all mandatory fields completed.

The PEP is then moderated by the Virtual School against the St Helens Virtual School Quality Assurance document. This is to ensure that all sections are completed to a high standard; the targets link to the child / young person's needs and wishes; the  education and attainment section links with the targets set and the Aspiration Pathway is completed.

The PEP money is then released standard. The PEP meeting and following PEP is completed on a termly basis ensuring the targets are reviewed and have been written to a high standard.
