
SHAP
SHAP provide a floating support service that enables young people aged 16-25 to develop the skills and confidence they need to live independently in their own tenancies. The service can support you with finances and/or budgeting.
The Steps Scheme, the St.Helens Resettlement Scheme and the Leaving Care Scheme have now all been incorporated into the St.Helens Young People's Floating Support Service.
Referrals are usually made via Sure Start or Social Services but direct application are accepted.
Benefit advice:
Your Personal Adviser or your placement will support you to make the appropriate benefit claim. Your Personal Adviser will ensure you have all information about receiving the benefits you are entitled to.
While you are waiting to receive your benefits, the Local Authority support you with an independent living allowance, which is equivalent to benefits.
