UCAS stands for Universities and Colleges Admissions Service. It's a non-profit organization that manages applications for undergraduate courses at UK universities and colleges.

What UCAS does

  • Processes applications for full-time undergraduate courses
  • Provides information on course choices, student life, finances, and accommodation
  • Offers advice and guidance on areas such as travel and bank accounts
  • Assesses applications on their merits, not the applicant's ability to pay

How UCAS works

  • Applicants can apply for multiple courses and institutions with the same application form
  • UCAS collects documents, pays fees, and communicates with universities
  • UCAS sets deadlines, requirements, and response commitments for all applications
  • Applicants create a single UCAS application form
