What subjects are included? 

  • GCSEs are available in over 60 subjects and vocational areas, including geography, history, mathematics, physics, and psychology
  • Students study the theory of a subject, and sometimes practical work or investigative work

When are GCSEs taken? 

  • Students typically start the GCSE program at age 14 and finish at age 16
  • The program can be completed in two years, or in one year for students who are academically able and mature

What happens after GCSEs?

  • Students may continue their education by taking General Certificate of Education (Advanced Level) courses 
  • GCSEs are highly valued by schools, colleges, and employers
